Darkroom printing is the original way to bring a film negative to life, using a light-tight room where every print is handled without exposure to light. Each print is exposed and developed by hand in the darkroom, the same way it’s been done for generations, producing that classic, rich look only true optical printing can achieve.
Your image is carefully exposed onto photographic paper using controlled light, then developed through chemical processing. This method allows precise control over exposure, contrast, and tonal balance. It includes hand dodging and burning by our master printers and results in highly detailed, emotionally rich prints.
Our darkroom printing service keeps your original negative intact while your photo comes out richer and more detailed on paper. It’s never cut, scanned, or chemically altered. We carefully control light and chemicals to bring out greater depth, contrast, and texture in every print.
As one of the few remaining full-service darkroom labs in Los Angeles, we’ve kept the craft of true optical printing alive while most labs went fully digital. Every print that leaves our darkroom is handled by hand, from negative preparation through exposure, development, washing, and drying. Our master printers dodge and burn each frame individually to bring out the tonal range that a machine simply can’t replicate.

The listed turnaround times are based on when we receive your film or negatives until we ship your order back to you or have it ready for in-store pickup. Turnaround times do not account for shipping time to or from us. If you ship something to us, please account for the added shipping time.

For black & white darkroom printing, RC (resin-coated) paper or fiber paper is used. For color darkroom printing, Fuji Crystal Archive Super is used which is a professional photographic paper.
No, your originals stay untouched. They only pass through the enlarger during exposure to make the print.
We offer darkroom prints up to 20×24 inches, depending on your film format and print type.
Yes. We create traditional darkroom prints from both black & white and color (C41) negatives.
Keep them somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight and away from humidity. UV exposure and moisture are the leading causes of fading over time.
