Our Film Development Process

Film Check-In, Type Identification, Processing Instructions

All sheets are thoroughly received, logged, and labeled. We check the size of the film (4×5, 5×7 or 8×10), confirm the type of development: Black and White, C-41 (color negative) or E-6 (slide film), and make any remarks concerning processing of the film in terms of exposure (Push/Pull). This makes sure that it is handled and processed properly throughout.

Chemical Development Process

Using precise time and temperature controls, we develop your film based on its type. Our automated replenishment systems for each development process ensure your film is developed using the freshest chemistry for optimal outcomes.

Inspection, Archival Sleeving & Delivery

Every sheet is visually inspected for consistency and quality. Negatives are sleeved in archival-safe holders. We securely package and return your film.

Proof Sheets + Scans

Optional services include proof sheets at the time of processing. For digital scans of sheet film, we offer scans utilizing our Imacon Scanner (4×5) or Drum Scanner (4×5, 5×7, 8×10). If you’re interested in scans at the time of processing, please contact us.

Professional Large Format Sheet Film Processing for Your Images

Developing large-format film should reflect the art of patience, precision, and creative intent. Sheet film delivers an exceptional finish, whether you’re capturing sweeping landscapes, intricate architectural forms, or intimate studio portraits. The large negative size provides the highest image quality, sharpness, and a wide tonal range that cannot be achieved with smaller formats.
Large format camera systems with sheet film give photographers precise control over perspective, focus, and exposure, ideal for creating gallery prints or archival images. However, the final image is only as good as its development. That is why we are experts at handling the large format negatives in a careful, consistent, and technical manner so that your creative vision is brought to life.

We develop film from 4×5 to 8×10 formats using professional darkroom techniques and lab-quality consistency. Whether a black and white, C-41 color negative, or E-6 slide film, our crew adheres to a step-by-step procedure. After verifying the check-in and film type, there is controlled chemical development, stop bath and fixing, and the final wash and drying in a dust-free room.

Each sheet is checked regarding quality and sleeved in archival-safe holders. We also offer optional high-resolution scanning, providing clean, ready-to-use digital files along with your developed negatives. Choosing large format film development means trusting a lab that values detail, contrast, and tonal depth, not just preserved, but celebrated.
