Color Film Development at The Icon

Color film processing makes your color negative film come alive and turns exposed rolls into high-quality and vivid images. The trusted C-41 chemical process is used to ensure we reproduce colors and give sharp details to all film formats, including 35mm and 120. After the film has been developed, it is cut very carefully and sleeved to protect it and store it with ease. To make it even more convenient, we can provide you with a proof sheet – a contact sheet of thumbnails to make you preview and choose the best shots. We employ automated, carefully monitored C-41 processing to ensure industry-standard color balance, density, and consistency for every roll.
To print, we print on the best Fuji Crystal Archive paper, which produces beautiful, long-lasting prints of all sizes. Select either traditional prints with a small white frame or contemporary borderless prints. A snip test is done before finalization to guarantee color and exposure perfection. Our C-41 color negative film processing services give you professional results, whether it is a memory archive or an artwork.

Everything You Need to Know About C41 Color FILM PROCESSING

What is the C-41 development process?
The C-41 process, or chromogenic color film processing, is the universally accepted chemical standard for developing all color negative film. It is highly sensitive to temperature; we precisely control our chemistry to 100.0°F (37.8°C) to ensure color accuracy and consistency across all film types.
What is the process of sending my color film?
You may make your order online and send your film to The Icon or drop off your film in person at our studio in Los Angeles (5450 WILSHIRE BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 90036). For convenience, use our Night Drop for after-hours film delivery.
Our business is in professional color film processing, so we care and treat all types of films, such as 35mm and 120mm, very carefully. Bring your pictures to life, whether you are a local or mailing in your film, we offer the best quality service.
What is the difference between glossy and matte prints?
Glossy prints are bright colored prints with a glossy finish and are suitable for sharp and high-contrast photographs. Matte prints are also non-reflective and non-smooth surfaces and ideal for creating a classic, understated appearance. Both of them provide superior durability and color fidelity.
What is a proofsheet and how can one use it to pick their best photos?
A proofsheet is a contact sheet of thumbnails of all the images of your roll of film. You can easily preview and choose the best shots before committing to the print or scan and this saves time and makes you pick the photos that you like best.
What are the print sizes and finishes (e.g. borderless) of color film prints?
We provide different sizes of print such as 5×7 up to 20×24. Select prints with a small white frame or borderless prints with a smooth and modern appearance. Printing is done on high-quality Kodak Endura Premier paper.
What is the turnaround time to process and deliver my film?
The turnaround time is usually determined by the type of service that you select and how you are going to deliver it. The average time of processing is 3-5 business days when we get your film. Rapid services can be offered at a higher price.
Will I be able to have my film scanned in digital format rather than in print?
Yes! We provide high-resolution digital scans of your film negatives up to 11×14. You are able to get them through email, download link, or USB, which is convenient to pass or store your photos online.
What type of film do you process besides C-41?
In addition to C-41 color negative film, we also specialize in E-6 Slide Film, Black & White Film, and Disposable Camera processing.
